With some plants, context is everything. Anemone blanda is one such. Its blue-purple daisy-like flowers could look so terribly disturbing in the wrong context, so plant this one carefully if you want to truly fall in love with it. We’re not talking namby-pamby little clumps here: Anemone blanda only really works in large carpets if it is to have its full effect.
But when it is done well, this little woodland tuberous plant is gorgeous. It lights up dull spaces under deciduous trees and shrubs. It is another crawl-up-to-see-me plant, yet those blue flowers punch far above their weight when it comes to impact: you can see them creeping about before you’re anywhere near them.
