It is desperately important to encourage wildlife into your garden. Not only is it good for fighting nasty pests, but it is also giving back a few of the habitats we have destroyed with our big fat cars, houses and roads. It’s a way of saying thank you to nature.
This year is the International Year of Biodiversity. This means lots of different things to different people, but for gardeners, it means a kickstart into wildlife gardening. The RHS have compiled a fantastic list of ways gardeners can encourage wildlife on their site, and they are offering F&F readers a chance to show how wildlife-friendly their gardens are in exchange for a fab prize.
The winner of our biodiversity competition will win a year’s membership of the RHS. To enter, all you need to do is tell us about the ways you are encouraging friendly bugs, birds and beasties into your garden. Send us a photo of a very wildlife friendly aspect of your garden (there is plenty of inspiration on the RHS website), and a short description of no more than 100 words.
Email competitions@fennelandfern.co.uk with ‘Wildlife’ in the subject line by midnight, May 14th, and we’ll publish the winner on the blog.
