Have you ever grown coriander as a microgreen? You really should. Eating this intense little leaf has been one of the real highlights of the 52-week salad challenge so far.
Week 7
I’ve noticed that the leaves I’m growing on my windowsill are germinating and putting out growth rather more quickly than they were at the start of January, which is gratifying. I sowed these coriander leaves in week three, and they took a while to germinate in our cold flat. But once they were out of the soil, they raced up to form tall and tasty leaves.
They’re ready to harvest as soon as they’ve produced their first seedling leaves. Don’t wait until the true leaves appear: just cut the plants off and serve on the top of a salad, or garnishing a good piece of meat. Coriander works especially well atop Moroccan food. They have an incredibly strong flavour for such a tiny seedling: imagine eating five coriander leaves at once to get an idea of the punch that this plant pulls.

Hi Kim: I love coriander at every stage, so it is difficult to harvest them when so small. But the taste is fantastic. Looking forward to summer days when I have pots full of the stuff.
