Perched in the middle of a backwater of the Regents Canal is a tiny little haven for wildlife.
This beautiful little island sculpture garden by Tania Kovats was commissioned by Islington Council and arts organisation UP Projects.
In the peaceful back water of the newly developed City Road Basin, which links up to the canal, the sculpture island, called HABITAT, features large nests based on those found locally built by moorhens, herons and blackbirds.
The nests are far larger than in real life, and are elevated on steel structures. The island itself is planted up with water-friendly plants.
