Barberry
What a fun plant the Barberry (Berberis vulgaris) is. I quite like its foliage, and its flowers, but really, the most fun I have with it is in the winter when it is dripping with these funny little berries.
If you can bear to have this in a prime spot in your garden for the rest of the year, when it looks nice but not spectacular, you’ll be richly rewarded.
