Cosmic carrots

When I was choosing products to review from Victoriana Nurseries I did think twice about ordering carrot seeds. But this cosmic selection of purple, yellow, and red carrots is a delight. My children love pulling them and trying to guess what colour will come out next.

I was pleased to see long, straight, unblemished carrots (no sign of carrot root fly nibbles). The seeds can be sown under protection from March or in the open from April up to June. We staggered sowings every 2 weeks, beginning in April. They should keep my children entertained for some weeks.

When cut up, we were surprised that the purple carrots were orange inside. Lucky we didn’t peel them! My daughter declared the yellow carrots to be the best (I thought they were the sweetest). But they were all very tasty when steamed for our dinner.
