Herby frontage

F&F member Claire Sutton fills her car and then her garden with gorgeous fragrant herbs.

I always try and take my lead from what grows naturally. So I was inspired to plant lavender and thyme in my front borders. Over the last few years I have grown lettuces there, but the watering was non stop, then I grew shallots, garlic and onions, which was ok, but the weeds just kept taking over. In the end I have decided the heat loving herbs are the thing.

Our front lawn has barely any grass. It’s been taken over by self heal’, daisies, buttercups and clover.

Inspired by what seems to grow well in this sunny dry spot I filled my boot with lavender and thyme from our local nursery.

I might even add another row of rosemary too.

I’ll let you know how my garden grows.
