HomeblogBaked apple slices Baked apples with cinnamon makes a sweet but healthy snack. If youâre a really superb gardener, you might have a few stored apples from last autumn left. Thereâs a good guide here to storing your late-season apples (and you need to be sure you do have a cultivar that actually does store, otherwise youâll end up with a sad mouldy mess). This is a great snack or pudding with no added sugar, but plenty of lovely flavour so that just one humble apple feels like a real treat. All you need to do is core your apple, and then chop it into slices. Line the slices up on a non-stick baking tray, and sprinkle lightly with cinnamon, then put in the oven at 200 degrees for 15 minutes, or until the natural sugars have caramelised and the apple slices have turned a golden brown. If you fancy a variation on this as a snack, try slow-roasting apple rings as a treat. Get more clever organic gardening tips from Fennel & Fern by subscribing to our weekly email updates.
