HomeblogReview: cuttings propagator I’m getting a little bit overexcited here, because my review of the Hydropod Cuttings Propagator sent to me by Greenhouse Sensation isn’t really finished yet. But I did want to share with you my excitement that the roots on these Philodendron scandens cuttings have started to develop. So here they are: This propagator has a water pump in its reservoir that gently mists the stumps of the plants so that they do not dry out, or rot as they might if just stuck in a glass of water. It also has a nice tall glass hat which keeps the cuttings warm and moist, too. It also comes with nutrients for you to add when the roots start to sprout, to encourage strong growth. I’ll reserve my judgement on whether this is the best propagator ever once I’ve got to the end of the trial and seen how the philodendron plants develop, as well as cuttings from pelargoniums and a rubber plant. But one thing that is worth noting is that it’s difficult to have one of these in a small flat, as it does make a lovely tinkling sound, and you do need to keep it running day and night. I’ve shut it away in the spare bedroom so it doesn’t drive us to distraction: but I suspect many gardeners will have a great deal more space than I do. You can have a look at the Hydropod here.
