‘Turkish Delight’ poppy

‘Turkish Delight’ is a stunning pink oriental poppy.

My oriental poppy, ‘Turkish Delight’, is coming into flower. From this hairy, tight pod leaps the most gorgeous skirt of petals.

Last night it was still curled up in that hairy pod. By the time I’d uploaded these pictures, the pod had popped off and the flower was fully open. What beautiful crepe petals!

After the flowers come the big fat seed pods, which will either self-seed around your borders or, if you’re organised, you can store them and sow from March to May.
