The first strawberries ripen in the new garden.

Bang on time for Wimbledon, the strawberries are starting to ripen. I don’t like tennis, but I do love strawberries, and so when the first big fat fruit appeared in my strawberry bed, I was jolly chuffed.

Unfortunately, I have no idea what it tasted like, because when I showed it to my fellow F&F gardener, he gobbled it down in one. Growing your own is so hard at times.

Now that we’re into fruiting time, I’ll put a load of straw down around the strawberry plants to help keep the fruits dry. It also makes the bed look lovely and neat.

Very jealous. My strawbs have been very disapppointing so far and pretty much failed to come up with the goods. The pineberries look promising though - so there’s hope yet!

That’s an extremely photogenic strawberry you had there by the way…
