HomeblogEnd of summer balcony The roof garden becomes an outdoor office. The summer is coming to an end on the roof terrace. What a lovely, lovely garden we’ve created up here! It is such a peaceful haven to sneak up to in the mornings to eat breakfast, or to spend a few quiet minutes at the end of a day when all around is soft and dark and glittering. This is what working from home looks like these days. Not bad, eh? The lovely thing about the roof terrace is how neat it all feels. That’s mostly down to the combination of the white walls and the dark decking, which I love. A few months in, the deck really does look good, and it is coping with the rain very well. What I’ve noticed is that unlike simple wooden decking, this composite decking from Trex doesn’t take in water, which means it dries really quickly once the sun is back out after a shower, and in the long term it won’t rot, which is handy as I plan to spend many more summers and autumns sitting up here on my deck, enjoying myself. It’s also a place where tender plants that slugs enjoy eating can enjoy themselves too: the slimy invaders haven’t made it up here, so I can grow on seedlings for a little longer. I even plan to put a mini greenhouse up here to make the most of its open aspect. I love this roof terrace, and when I think of what it once looked like, I’m proud of it too. Many thanks to Trex for supplying the decking for this roof garden. Share this:Share Leave a Reply Cancel Reply Your email address will not be published.
