HomeblogPut up a nesting box A sturdy, low-cost nest box is all you need to encourage wildlife in your garden. As you know, it’s National Nest Box Week, and we’re putting up a lot of nesting boxes in the garden. Now some nesting boxes are rather fancy and over-the-top (see tomorrow’s set for an example of that), while others are made to do the actual job of letting birds rear their young in safety. This one from Birstall is perfect if what you’re after is a low-cost sturdy box that will last a good time and looks smart. It’s only £4.99, and it’s easy to remove the roof once a year to clean the box out - something that’s important if you want birds to use it year after year and to have safe, clean conditions in which to rear their young. We’ll be getting some more of these each year, that’s for sure, as they are really good value and mean we can increase the number of nesting sites without spending too much money!
