Helleborus orientalis ‘Spotted White’ is a stunning, intricate plant.

I do love a good patterned hellebore. And doesn’t this one look fine?

I’ve got two of these plants in my hellebore haven at the top of the garden. Their petals have enough white on them that I can see them from the house, but it’s when I get closer that I see how utterly beautiful and intricate these flowers are.

Hellebores are a bit of a tease, aren’t they? You have to squat down and lift their blooms up to really see how lovely they are.

But oh, it is worth it.

Stunning. These are Helleborus orientalis ‘Spotted White’ from Gardening Express. I can’t wait for this variety to seed itself. Because hellebores are promiscuous, they rarely breed true to seed. But with a parent like this, the offspring could be really, really beautiful.
