The cowslip, or Primula veris, is in flower in the wildflower patch. Cowslips are such wonderful, wonderful plants. They’re also funny-looking things, like a wild lamppost in a garden. They have much brighter flowers than you’d expect: a more intense yellow than the primrose, concentrated into tiny little blooms. I’ve planted two cowslip plugs in my wildflower patch. They were in my chalk and limestone soils plant plug collection from Wildflower Lawns and Meadows. Like primroses, these plants seed themselves very easily, and I hope that next year, I’ll have even more of these dainty little yellow flowers in my meadow.
