‘Ice Cream’ tulips are beautiful and strange.
Well, these are the most hilarious and surprisingly beautiful tulips I’ve ever grown.

These tulips have beautifully-painted outer petals: pink and green. But it’s the wonderfully over-the-top centre that makes them ‘ice creams’. What fun! The development of the flowers is lovely, too. They start pinky-green, with that white centre emerging. The white centre becomes bigger and bigger, more Mr Whippy-ish by the day. Then they start to blow open a little, as though they are melting. Every part of them is silly and beautiful and masterly. Nature is a wonderful thing.
