‘Joyce Spirit’ is a deep blue grape hyacinth with big flowers. These beautiful grape hyacinths were another impulse purchase from the same plant fair that gave me the hot pink witch hazel. They are a beautiful variety of muscari - slightly darker than the usual and with more pronounced white fringes on the florets. This is ‘Joyce Spirit’. I’ve planted them at the edge of the strawberry bed, as they’ll provide a bit of colour before the fruiting gets underway. Grape hyacinths can be a bit enthusiastic, and I expect to have to divide and replant these clumps in years to come, which is fine, as a good spread of these rich blue flowers in other parts of the garden will be no bad thing at all.
