Review: Wild Garden Weekends

A beautifully-researched, written and illustrated guide book.

Looking for somewhere to go this Bank Holiday? Or trying to catch a few more warm weekends in September? This book is a wonderful country-wide guide to the best gardens, parks and meadows in the UK. We should know - we’ve been using it this year.

This book is wonderful. It goes through the UK in sections and suggests the sites for flowers, food and foraging.

It also lists the best places to visit for wild flowers, kitchen garden food, wildlife, children, ancient forests, camping and glamping and so on.

And the suggestions really are fantastic. This is a guide that has had a heck of a lot of thought put into it.

The author Tania Pascoe combines personal recommendations with an extensive list of 400 different places to visit. Every different visit is described in enough detail to make you want to rush there all at once, even if it is at the other end of the country.

And the photography is beautiful on every single page. This is clearly not a guide book cobbled together after a bit of googling and with stock photos supplied by the venues themselves.

It is carefully curated and beautifully illustrated. It is a guide book that you can trust. And it’s one we love using ourselves.

Wild Garden Weekends is £16.99 from Wild Things Publishing.
