Luxury logs

F&F reviews some lovely luxury logs.

One of the nicest things about this winter has been my fire. Every weekend and many evenings, we light the fire as soon as we can, and sit by it, warming ourselves happily until we clamber up to bed and leave the last embers warming our home as we fall asleep.

We had been burning the logs of a tree that fell in our garden, but they are starting to run out, and then the lovely people at Luxury Wood suggested that we try their nets of logs. Having spent far too much time lugging heavy, wet and woodlouse-y logs around the garden, I was quite keen on the idea of pre-chopped logs that came in their own easy-to-carry nets. So I said yes.

And here they are!

We were sent 40 nets of kiln-dried logs to review. They are good-sized nets: light enough to carry but with enough ash logs in each one to keep your fire going for a day’s session.

And they are very good, dry logs. We have a small woodburner, which is not very wide and has an annoying baffle plate that can become very easily dislodged if you overload it. But these are cut well so that you can fit two or maybe three in at a time in our small burner. And because they have been kiln-dried, they catch light so well, which means making fires is a real pleasure.

And it means that our fires are even cheerier than they were at the start of the winter.

So all in all, I’m very pleased indeed with my luxury logs. Might put another one on the fire now.
