A warm winter’s evening

F&F reviews kiln-dried logs from Logs For Sale.

What a lovely lot of logs appeared in my driveway the other day!

These are kiln-dried logs from Logs for Sale, and my goodness they are good quality. The crate appeared in a lorry with a cheery driver, and it was absolutely packed with these beauties.

It was a cold day, and it took a few runs with the wheelbarrow to get all the logs inside, stacked in the garden and by the back door. There is something really beautiful about stacked logs.

stored logs

There is something lovely about the repetitive pattern of wood stacked on wood. But anyway, I digress: I’m supposed to be reviewing the logs, not harping on about how pretty they look, and they’re much less useful in my log store than they are in my fire.

So the logs are cut into a good manageable size for my woodburner, and for carrying into my woodburner. They are also dry as a bone, and any dampness is from me storing them in the garden. The site boasts that they have less than 15 per cent moisture for more heat, and this is certainly the case: my house gets very warm when I am burning these logs.

The ones that I’ve stored completely under cover catch light beautifully, and because they still have their bark on them, they burn well for a good amount of time. You buy logs to burn for an afternoon, not go up in smoke as kindling within minutes, and these beauties do that very well indeed.

Plus there are so many of them that I will have many happy afternoons roasting happily in front of the fire ahead of me.

I think these are fantastic quality logs, and so long as you can take a big crate of them in your drive for an afternoon while you unload them (and what a lovely chore to have, unless you have space to store the crate and unload bit by bit as you need them), I would recommend them so much to anyone who wants a warm winter’s evening by the fire.

When stacked like that the logs look like an art installation! The grain is so beautiful.
And there is nothing like staring into the flames of a fire to lose yourself in your thoughts. So relaxing.
