This installation by Flora Grubb isn’t so much gardening as art. Either way, it’s jolly clever.
The succulents are planted in plastic panels which hold the soil and the water and are built to prevent the soil falling out. They are then grown on for a month or so until established, and then mounted on a wall in a vertical position.
Obviously this is perfect if you have very little space in which to grow, but it is also so beautiful that gardeners who have plenty of space would crave it too. Succulents are also marvellously resilient and forgiving, which makes this the perfect installation if you are a bit lazy as well…
You can buy the panels, and a whole host of other fabulous vertical gardening products here, and Flora has also written a detailed blog about installing one yourself here.
