HomeblogGlass Gem corn This heritage corn variety is possibly the most beautiful you’ll ever grow, if you manage to get your hands on some seeds, that is. ‘Glass Gem’ corn has become horticulture’s equivalent of the It-bag in just a few months. When this heritage variety from US-based Seeds Trust first hit the interweb, it exploded across social media platforms. Everyone wants a pack of seeds to grow. And this is why: This corn isn’t corn. It’s too beautiful to be corn. It’s more beautiful than jewellery. In fact, it looks rather like a string of dyed freshwater pearls. The love for this corn has been so immense that it has crashed the Seeds Trust website. No matter really: the corn seeds have already sold out for this year, and gardeners are already demanding a waiting list for new stocks. If you’re the sort of person who likes to queue in Oxford Street for the New Year sales, then you’d best hop over to the Seeds Trust Facebook page for the next update. Along with 4,000 other dead keen fans, that is.
